Transnationalism in Graphic Novels
The term transnationalism refers to a social movement that produces migrations or hybrid cultures and also cultures that transcend borders of nations. Graphic novels offer a different form of reading due to the comic strip format as you oscillate between the text and image instead of only having the text. It also means that the author’s intentions are made clear. Some graphic novels that can be examined for transnationalism are Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi and Maus by Art Spiegelman.
